Eduardo José Ayesa Iturrate
Eduardo Ayesa is Head of the Environmental Engineering Unit at CEIT and Full Professor at TECNUN. He graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineer in 1988 and obtained his doctorate in Engineering from the University of Navarra in 1992. Since then, he has been working on applied research projects at CEIT and, since 1996, lecturing at the School of Engineering in San Sebastian.
His main research activity has been mainly focused on mathematical modelling, system identification and process control for Environmental Systems. The main fields of application of his research focus on optimising the design, operation and control of advanced technologies for the treatment and management of water, wastewater and solid wastes in urban and industrial systems. He has participated in more than 70 research projects in close collaboration with industrial partners and public authorities. He has also been active in other research activity, supervising 9 doctoral theses and participating as co-author in more than 130 scientific and technical publications in international journals and conferences.
Over the last years he has been actively involved in the organisation of scientific and technical networks and events, including numerous participations in Scientific Committees for International Conferences. At the International Water Association (IWA) Eduardo Ayesa is the current Chairman of the Specialist Group on “Modelling and Integrated Assessment” and Officer in the Management Committee of the Specialist Group on “Instrumentation, Control and Automation”.
