Sé lo que hiciste el último verano

Viajes, aventuras, fotos y anécdotas sobre algunas actividades de verano llevadas a cabo por alumnos de TECNUN - Antonio Alger

Google-man

Antonio Alger and his new friends in Google (Dublin)Antonio Alger arrived to Dublin on the 24th of June, to start a new adevnture in one of the most important companies of the world, Google. “From time zero I was part of the team, proposing new ideas and making important decisions” he comments.

Antonio Works with the AdSense Team for EMEA, AdSense is a free product that enables website publishers to display relevant Google ads and monetize their content. He is part of the team organizing the AdSense Partner Day 2010 in Dublin, a one day event in the Google Head Quarters. They invite key partners from Europe, Midle East and Africa to strengthen relationships and give an insight of the new products and partner solutions.

The first three weeks he balanced the project with training, to understand the products and Google’s culture. “I have always feel part of a continuous learning curve and all the internship was about learning and not being great, but awesome” he comments.

There are so many rumors about the Google office and you might be wondering, what is true and what is not. Well everything is true, they have foosball tables, pool, games rooms, ping pong, sushi, wood oven pizzas, salad bars, snack bars, etc. During the first three weeks Antonio says he gained around 3 kilos, because he was always working with M&M’s in his desk and during lunch he couldn’t resist to try all the different dishes and desserts. But the solution to the weight gained was not around the corner, but inside the office, the gym. They have a gym in one of the buildings to burn all the calories from breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Antonio Alger in GoogleHow about working hours, Antonio comments “We all come at 9 and finish around 6ish, but you own your time, you can be in the office at 8, go to the gym, have breakfast and finished at 9, because you stay playing games with your friends. What matters is that you do your work and you do it awesome, not great, awesome!”

One of the things he likes the most is to work with different cultures and different time zones, with other project he was working he have the opportunity to work with India, Japan, California and Argenitna. He says “It was a challenge to arrange meetings with the different offices and find an available room, but I was always open to come early or leave the office later, it was great to have different opinions shaping your work”

He is in love with Ireland and for him the Irish weather is not a problem, “having four seasons in one day is not bad at all. In the end, you are never outside; your life goes from the office to the pub and from the pub to the house” he adds.

For Antonio this has been one of the best summers, “For me it was not another summer, I had the opportunity to learn how to manage projects, budgets, a new culture, the Google culture, make new friends and had great colleagues. A lot of work full of fun and great experiences! Hope is not a goodbye for Google, but a see you soon!”
