INTRODUCTION TO THE MBE

Biomedical Engineering applies the skills and principles of the engineering sciences to the definition, understanding and resolution of problems that arise in the fields of medicine and biology.

The Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering provides those who hold undergraduate degrees in Engineering, the Physical Sciences, Mathematics, etc. with the specific training needed to put the principles and methods of engineering and physics to work in order to solve existing and emerging problems in the fields of medicine, biology and biotechnology.

OBJECTIVES

  • The professional stream of the Master’s degree programme prepares graduates to take up key posts in health centres, the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, and medical/health instrumentation companies.

  • The programme’s research stream provides graduates with an in-depth introduction to research in the field of biomedicine and the knowledge and skills necessary to work in biomedical research laboratories, health centres, R & D departments in companies, etc.
