Information for students

The final project is a required subject that students may do at a company. Because it is an academic subject, the project must be approved by the corresponding Final Project Coordinating Professor. The coordinating professor depends on the area or topic of the final project:

The Coordinating Professor will assign an academic tutor to follow up on the final project with the student.

Administrative process

Final Projects done at companies are supervised activities. The final project is academic in nature and therefore students are in no way considered employees of the company. In-company final projects are formalised via a cooperation agreement between the company, the University of Navarra and Fundación Empresa-Universidad de Navarra (FEUN).

Because the students are not employed by the company, they are not registered with Social Security. FEUN provides the student with a policy that covers accidents and liability for the duration of the final project.

Duration of the final project:

Final projects are completed within 4-6 months. A longer time frame is not recommended.

Financial Considerations

A company may opt to add to the student's financial aid package to give compensation for work performed.

If the company does not add to student financial aid package, it must give FEUN 70 € for each student before he or she begins the final project.

If the company does contribute to a student's financial aid package, all financial and administrative processing will be channeled through FEUN as the student is receiving a grant from the Fundación and is not an employee of the company. In this case, company contributions will be given to FEUN. To the amount the company contributes for the student 10% will be added as a donation to the foundation's grant fund. The total amount a company gives to the Foundation is considered a donation and is therefore tax deductible. The Foundation issues certification of the company's donation each year so it can be declared on the annual income tax form.

If students haven't found a company to do their final project in, they can look through the final project offers posted at TECNUN and ask to be included in the selection process for the projects they are interested in. To access the page, students need to be registered in the system and create a personal final project page. The final project offers posted here have already been approved by the corresponding coordinating professor.

If students arrange an in-company final project on their own, they must make sure that it has been approved by the appropriate coordinating professor. They must also inform the External Relations Service at TECNUN so the administrative processing in done through FEUN. To do this, the company needs to complete the on-line form (in this case the student is already assigned) or fill in the corresponding paper form.
