Amaia Iza Mendía
Amaia Iza-Mendia has been a researcher in the Thermomechanical Treatments group at CEIT since 1996 and associate lecturer in Microstructure Characterization Techniques of Materials and in Polymer Science and Technology at Tecnun, the School of Engineering at the University of Navarra in San Sebastián.
She received a Bachelor in Chemistry (Polymer Science) from the University of Basque Country (EHU-UPV), Master in Science from the University of Kent, and PhD in Physics from The University of Navarra.
Her main research and technical interests include Stainless Steels and High-Temperature Alloys: Process optimization and microstructure-property relationships. Hot workability, phase transformations, and texture development. The major activity is carried out within the framework of research projects with companies in the steel industry.
She assumes the joint responsibility of the electron microscopy unit of the Materials Department of CEIT and is responsible of the transmission electron microscope. She has been active in introducing advanced techniques for quantitative characterization of complex microstructures in steels.
She has participated in more than 20 research projects, supervised 2 doctoral thesis and several Final Year Projects. Non-confidential results have lead to over 50 papers being published in international and national journals and conference proceedings and 3 technical documents and books with ISBN number.
