Abstract: This Project is about new technology called Rapid Prototyping. Probably the revolution in creating products. In Tecnun Universidad de Navarra are two types of machine using to that process .Both were used to experiments for that essay. First is printing from ABS plastic and the second from patented Fullcure 720. These are completely different materials, created in different ways. ABS plastic is created by FDM technology and Fullcure 720 by PolyJet. In my essay I will explain creating processes of that materials. The second part will presents post treatments processes for square plates and boxes. Experiments cover such topics as hardening, waterproof, metallization and sanding. Most of them were first time tested. For experiments were used both materials. Sometimes they were treated differently. During tests covering were put by inexperienced student, so the results includes human mistakes. Third part is focused on tests concerning the appropriate method of covering, there are shown results and conclusions of each. In case of hardening it was test in tension machine. Each sample, after covering some layers, and appropriate time drying was put in that machine. It had to be chosen different type of measuring, due to the properties of both materials. Later
test was focused on cubes made from ABS plastic, each of different density.The task was to make them waterproof. After covering boxes different kind of sprays, and appropriate time drying ,checking if the process was failure or not was simple. Without using any machine, boxes were filled with water and left for 24 hours. Then in case of metallization for the test were used three ABS plates. They were covered by different thickness of metallization spray. For checking if it work was used device to measure the voltage. Last test was checking roughness of ABS plastic plate, before and after sanding by Mitutoyo machine. Last chapter is the conclusion of all processes in that project.
