Now that I am a graduate in Electrical Engineering:

Where can I begin my career?

DESCRIPTION

Have you ever wondered how many small motors a car has? And how many metres of cable an airplane has? Surely you've experienced an electricity outage because of supply problems. You too are aware of the importance of electricity in our lives.

As a graduate in Electrical Engineering, you will be able to design electrical systems for any machine as well as design machines that are electrical in nature, like motors. You will be able to design electrical installations for different types of power generation--solar, wind, thermal, tidal, hydraulic, etc.--as well as for their processing and transport.

Your work will involve trying to design equipment that consumes less electric energy.

You will be able to lead technical teams, be a project manager or a product manager, engaging in tasks that combine technical and management abilities..

You may work in technology centres, research centres and medium and large companies You can even start your own electrical engineering firm.

CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY

Your work will help our lives be more comfortable and enhance our well being, but always prudently by respecting the environment, something that is possible although sometimes it may not seem that way. Imagine how marvelous it would be to replace our current NOISY and DIRTY cars with ELECTRIC CARS. Doing so depends on making advances in power systems (BATTERIES) and making electric traction systems more economical.

Compare a manual wheelchair to an electric-powered one--what an improvement! And what about all the many other devices that used to be manually operated and are now electric-powered: the toothbrush, the electric shaver, levers that adjust car seats, buttons that open and close windows, the system that raises and lowers hospital beds, lifts, escalators, etc.--without efficient electrical systems we would be lost. All these advances are possible things to our friends the ELECTRONS.

The future of our planet depends on efficient use of our natural resources and finding cleaner and cheaper energy sources. Graduates in Electrical Engineering have an important role to play in meeting this challenge.

COMPANIES

You will be able to work in many different industrial companies--many graduates in Electrical Engineering end up working for companies such as IDOM and SENER; in electrical machinery companies such as ENDESA, REPSOL, GAMESA, SUNPOWER; and in other companies such as CAF, FENOSA, IBERDROLA, REE, ASLTHON, SEAT, VOLKSWAGEN, ETXETAR, DANOBAT, EADS, FAGOR, ORONA, BIELE, GKN, etc.
