Emilio José Sánchez Tapia

Dr. Emilio Sánchez is a researcher in the Experimental Dynamics and Design Area in the Department of Mechanics at CEIT. He has a degree in Mechatronic Engineering (1998) and received a PhD. In Teleoperation and Robotics (2002), both from the University of Navarra.

He has experience doing research on multidisciplinary projects, mainly dealing with control issues of mechatronic devices such as teleoperators, haptics and training simulators. He is actively involved in European projects, mainly dealing with the research and development of human-machine interfaces to transfer non-symbolic knowledge (ENACTIVE network of excellence and SKILLS). He is currently leading the HASISTEC project, which deals with the development of assistive mechatronic devices for surgery.

He is the head of the Robotics and Biomechatronics Laboratory at CEIT. He also teaches subjects related to Control, Robotics and Biomechatronics at TECNUN at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, he has directed 5 PhD theses.
