Sergio Arana Alonso

Sergio Arana received his degree in Electronics and Control Engineering from the University of Navarra in 1999, and the PhD in Engineering in 2003. He has been working since 1999 in the Microelectronics and Microsystems department at CEIT where he leads the bioMEMS Group.

Sergio is also the Assistant Director of the Biomedical Engineering Department at TECNUN (University of Navarra) where he is also Associate Professor for several courses in the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra.

He has been involved in more than 30 projects, both industrial and research projects, from which three patents have been obtained. He is the author or co-author of 24 scientific and technical papers and he has participated in more than 40 national and international conferences.

His research and teaching interests include bioMEMS for diagnosis and therapy, body implants, silicon processing techniques, clean room processes. He also serves as referee for several international journals focused on microsystems and bioMEMS. He was awarded as “Ambassador” of the city of San Sebastian in 2012 for his involvement in the scientific activities of the city.
