Pedro Uranga Zuaznabar
Pello Uranga Zuaznabar is a researcher at the Thermomechanical Treatments Group at CEIT and Associate Professor at Tecnun, the Technological Campus of the University of Navarra in Donostia, Basque Country, Spain. He received his B.S. (1998) and Ph.D. (2002) degrees in Materials Engineering from Tecnun (University of Navarra). Currently, his research activity is mainly focused on the thermomechanical processing and the microstructural evolution modeling of different steel grades.
He has published over 60 technical papers in international journals and conferences and 2 books with ISBN number. He has participated in more than 30 research projects.
He has received the following awards:
- 2013 Gilbert R. Speich Award - AIST. For the paper entitled "Control of Carbide Distributions by Modifying Heating Rates in Induction Tempering Treatments", presented at the MS&T'12 Conference.
- 2012 Gilbert R. Speich Award - AIST. For the paper entitled "Carbide Spheroidization Kinetics in a Low Alloy Medium Carbon Steel: Relevance of Deformation After Transformation", presented at the MS&T'11 Conference.
- 2008 Young Leader Professional Development Award, Materials Processing and Manufacturing Division, TMS.
- 2003 Charles Hatchett Award for the best paper on the science and technology of niobium and its alloys. The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (UK).
He is member of the AIST (Association of Iron and Steel Technology) and TMS (The Mineral, Metals and Materials Society) professional associations. He is also an external expert for the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) of the European Commission.
