Content

The syllabus for the course is as follows:

Section 1: Software

In this section the main tools used in the corporate context will be described. All of them belong to the EDMS (Enterprise Data Management Solutions) concept that includes all the tools that handle information in a company.
Commercial software will be dealt with, in its scope and its main features, such as:

  • Accounting
  • Commercial Management
  • Forecasting
  • Warehousing
  • DRP (Distribution Resource Planning)
  • Human Resources Management
  • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • MRP (Material Requirement Planning)
  • FCS (Finite Capacity Scheduling)
  • WFMS (Workflow Management Systems)
  • CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
  • SCM (Supply Chain Management)
  • ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)

Subsequently different approaches to the Comprehensive Management will be dealt with, as well as the different features that these approaches have in common.

Section 2: Systems Integration

This last section focuses on the systems integration problem with the aim of a comprehensive management of the company. The following issues will be discussed:

  • Integration problem. Different approaches. Current trends.
  • Process Management
    • Workflow Software
    • Business Process Management (BPM) Software
  • Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)
  • Methodology for the Design of Integrated Information Systems in production companies (MDSii).
  • Conferences by guest speakers:
    • Development and implementation of ERP systems
    • Corporate experience with MDSii
  • Case studies on Information Systems design.

The detailed weekly programme with the contents that will be taught in each session will be made public later on.
